ScienceDirect – system down time Saturday 20 January January 18, 2007

The ScienceDirect search functionality will be upgraded on Saturday 20 January, resulting in some system downtime.

It is anticipated that ScienceDirect will be unavailable for approximately 6 hours, starting at 19.30. The ScienceDirect E-Helpdesk apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

A reminder, that we have full text electronic access to the entire collection of American Institute of Physics conference proceedings from 2000 onwards. These can be accessed via the AIP conference proceedings website found here.

They can be also be searched for via Scitation, Inspec and Web of Knowledge (including Web of Science and ISI Proceedings). Remember to access Inspec and Web of Knowledge you need to be on campus, connected via the VPN or use ATHENS to access. For further information see the Library website passwords and access pages.

As a result of the formation of the new Institution of Engineering and Technology, the IEE proceedings journals have changed their name and will start with a new ISSN, starting at Volume 1, Issue 1.

We are pleased to announce that as of the 1st January 2007, the Imperial College Library has subscribed to the Nature Platinum collection which includes titles such as: Nature Physics, Nature Photonics and Nature Chemical Biology.

Titles will be catalogued shortly, in the meantime, see here for a full list of the new titles and to access them go to the Nature website. Access is via IP address and Athens.

Science Direct – suspension of alerts 14 Jan – 21 Jan 2007 January 5, 2007

In order to implement a new search engine, Science Direct will suspending all Search, Citation and Topic Alerts, for a week from Sunday 14 January until Sunday 21 January, 2007.

“During this one-week period users will not receive any of the aforementioned Alerts emails and they will instead be delivered the following week, after 21 January. The 30-day Archive function for Search Alerts will not be reloaded, so if users want to save their archived records they must do so before 14 January.

The Volume/Issue Alerts will not be affected by the new FAST ESP search engine migration.”
